The Cogdell Light is said to appear near the Okefenokee swamp late at night. Drivers can go into the woods and turn off their car, then flash their headlights to call the "ghost."
Then, a greenish-yellow glow seems to appear from the woods and head straight for the car. Some believe this is a ghost of a man who was decapitated in a train accident, carrying a lantern and wandering in search of his head.
Others believe the lantern is carried by the spirits of two lovers who snuck away together after they were forbidden to meet, and were shot by one of their fathers who mistook them for robbers.

The “cogdale” light is in a completely different area than this article. The Axson Light is the story being told. Years ago, a man was killed in the tracks and if you wait for him, you can see the glow of a light. Unfortunately, this haunt is no longer available as they have shut down the path going to the area for farm land and it is now a no trespassing zone. I’ve grown up here in South Georgia and I love all of the spooks but this one is one I have to leave in my memory!
