Birdsville Plantation
Birdsville, GA 30442
This plantation was built in the 1700's on the land that King George III gave to Welshman Francis Jones. The house started to undergo construction in 1782, but many additions have been made over the years. Rumor has it that Union soldiers were searching for the family's treasure and dug up the bodies of the family's twins and then set fire to the house. Ghost stories have included the sounds of children weeping in the middle of the night and doors that open and close by themselves.

I was told stories about my family Plantation of Birdsville since I was a little 6 year old. I am now 77 years old. I just just thought it was Grandpa trying to scare me. But Daddy and all of my Uncles used to talk about Sherman setting fire to the Plantation and digging up the twins while looking for hidden treasures. Also a skull found in the basement. Yikes!! My maiden name is Georgia Jones and a true member of the Original Jones family that built Birdsville Plantation!
