We stayed at East Bay Inn on Sept 22nd, 2025 in room 209. We didnt ‘see’ anything per se, but I did hear a lot of foot steps and creaking floor planks. These sounded in the room, not only in the hallway. Also, it sounded like someone/something was tinkering with the telephone charging cables on the nightstand next to me. admittedly, I didn’t have the nerve to roll over and look. I wasn't fearful as if my wife and I were in danger. I’ve experienced plenty of paranormal things in my life (sights, sounds) and East Bay Inn is, in my opinion, definitely the real deal. Aside from that, the Inn is absolutely beautiful and well maintained!

My sister and I were on the second floor for three nights and adjacent and below “Charlie’s” room. We both heard footsteps pacing above us on the third floor.. for hours during the night. The following night, our room was just noisy.. creaks, cracks all centered in the far corner against the brick exposed wall… I woke and asked my sister if she was making that noise??? Upon arriving home, ..,.my sister is missing a praline she swears she had. We enjoyed sharing stories with the other guests.. it was our understanding that women guests are more likely to hear his antics. The front desk wasn’t surprised by any of our experiences. But it is a beautiful hotel with the nicest staff, so it was not frightening at all.

Stayed this past weekend. The Inn is dog friendly and though my dog never barks in a hotel, he went completely ballistic barking at the door one night. Didn’t seem to be anyone in the hallway. Did Charlie wiggle the doorknob and we didn’t notice? But that’s not the only thing. While laying in bed with the TV on, the screen went black. I was playing around on my phone and just for giggles, asked Charlie to turn the tv back on. Nothing happened. Waited 5 seconds and said, “Please.” And the screen lit back up immediately.
Also, when I got home, I noticed one of my shoes was missing. I KNOW I had packed it before I left the room. I checked the car, and called the hotel to see if it had fallen out somehow in the lobby. They didn’t have it. Charlie is known to take things. But what I noticed is the one shoe that I DID have, had a penny shoved in between some decorative bands on the toe area. Same place where a penny would be on a “penny loafer”. Did Charlie take my other shoe and leave one for me with a penny???

My sister and I were two rooms down from Charlie’s but we invited him to visit us. We both woke up not knowing what the other experienced but we both told the same exact story. We both felt like someone was cuddling up to us at night. We both were sleeping on our sides and both felt like we were being spooned by Charlie. It was actually a very cool experience We are going back in Jan of next year.
